Today I describe all of them with a more words that you must have to know before joining in the defence services. Now a day’s maximum no of students are interested to join in Indian defence services. This article is much valuable to them. Before joining read this article very carefully and rectify which match you properly.
At first we figure out the different categories of Indian defence forces. They are mainly three categories-
1) INDIAN ARMED FORCE – The Indian armed forces are under the Management of Ministry of Defence (MOD). The president of India is the supreme commander of this defence forces. This includes-
·INDIAN AIR FORCE (Air warriors)
·INDIAN ARMY (Land warriors)
·INDIAN NAVY (Sea warriors)
2) PARAMILITARY FORCE – Everyone has a great confusion about this forces as these forces are not properly included officially. But I am giving you a concept about that. This forces includes-
·ASSAM RIFLES – Main duty is to counter insurgency and hold border security operation and also guarding Indo-Mayanmar border
·SPECIAL FRONTIER FORCE – Main duty is to covert operation behind chinese lines.
·INDIAN COAST GUARD – Main duty is to protect India’s maritime interests with jurisdiction over the territorial waters of India.
3) CENTRAL ARMED POLICE FORCE – These forces are under the Authority of Ministry of Home-Affairs. This is characterised by-
·CENTRAL RESERVE POLICE FORCE (CRPF) – Main duty is to look after internal security of India. Countering naxal operation, assistance of state and union territories in police operations, helping in UN peace-keeping mission.
·RAILWAY PROTECTION FORCE (RPF)
·BORDER SECURITY FORCE (BSF) – Main duty is to guard the border of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Mayanmar.
·INDO TIBETIAN BORDER POLICE (ITBP) – Main duty is to prevent the border violation of Himalayan region and china. Also they work for disaster management.
·CENTRAL INDUSTRIAL SECURITY FORCE (CISF) – Main duty is to provide security to Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) that cover more than 300 industrial units and also metros and airports.
·SASHASTRA SEEME BAL (SSB) – Main duty is to guard Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders.
·NATIONAL SECURITY GUARD (NSG) – Main duty is to combat terrorist activities and emergency situation of country. They called as Black Cats because of their uniform.
·SPECIAL SECURITY FORCE (SPG) – Main duty is to provide security to prime minister and other important persons.

INDIAN AIR FORCE
1) Airman group ‘X’ technical
Educational Qualification – i) HS pass with 50% marks and Mathematics and Physics as compulsory. Ii) Diploma or Polytechnic in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Computer Science, Information Technology and Instrumentation Technology with 50% marks.
Physical Requirement– i) Minimum height of 152.5 cm. ii) Must have the ability to grow chest of 5 cm. iii) Weight have to be adjust with age and height. iv) Eyesight will be 6/36 without glass that can be modifiable in 6/9 per eye with glass. v) Eyesight need for detect colour is CPIII. vi) ability to listen whispering from a distance of 6 meter. vii) Good dental rug and perfect health viii) free from psychiatric
Exam detail & selection – A written exam conducted by airman selection board. Exam centers are Barrackpore (Kolkata), Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Bihata (Patna). There are 3 papers on the level of higher-secondary, English, Mathematics and Physics with duration of 1 hour. After qualifying the written exam, they are called for physical exam. In this physical exam they have to run 1.6km within 8 minute. And get extra marks if one can complete the ground within 7 min 30 sec. you have to carry shoe, pant in the date of exam. After qualify in this round you have to give an interview and medical check-up. You have to mentally prepared for 2-3 days for giving this exams. And the fooding and lodging in this time is in your own expense. You have to carry all the original documents with you in this time. For that you have to apply online or in a blank A-4 paper after releasing their advertisement within the specific dates. The advertisement mainly release in may or june in every year.
Job detail – Job duration of 20 years that can extend upto 57 years. You also get stipend during training period with proper fooding and lodging without any expense.
2) Airman group ‘Y’ technical
Educational Qualification – i) HS pass with 50% marks in any stream and unmarried ii) HS pass with 50% marks in west Bengal Council or CBSE board in vocational

A written exam conducted by Central airman selection board. Exam centers are Barrackpore (Kolkata), Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Bihata (Patna). There are 2 papers – English & Reasoning and general awareness from the CBSE syllabus. Duration of exam is 45 min. In this physical exam they have to run 1.6km within 8 minute. And get extra marks if one can complete the ground within 7 min 30 sec. you have to carry shoe, pant in the date of exam. After qualify in this round you have to give an interview and medical check-up. You have to mentally prepared for 2-3 days for giving this exams. And the fooding and lodging in this time is in your own expense. 3) Group ‘Y’ (Auto-Technician, Ground Training Instructor) and Indian Airforce (Police)-
Educational Qualification – i) HS pass with 50% marks in any stream and unmarried ii) 3 year diploma course from a Polytechnic Institute. Iii) vocational from CBSE board.
Physical Requirement (for Auto-Technitian) – i) Minimum height of 165 cm (162.5 cm for north-east and mountainous region) with leg size 99cm. ii) Eyesight will be 6/12 that can be modifiable in 6/6) Eyesight need for detect colour is CPII.
Physical Requirement (for Ground Training Instructor) – i) Minimum height of 167 cm (162.5 cm for north-east and mountainous region) ii) Eyesight will be 6/12 that can be modifiable in 6/6) Eyesight need for detect colour is CPII.
For Indian Air Force (Police) – i) Minimum height of 175 cm ii) Eyesight will be 6/6. Eyesight need for detect colour is CPII.

Exam detail & selection – At first a 12 months joint basic phase training in Airforce school at Belgaum, Karnataka. You also get stipend Rs. 5700 during training period with proper fooding and lodging without any expense. After successful training the first salary will be Rs. 14863 which can extend upto 35627 depending on your rank.
A written exam conducted by Central airman selection board. Exam centers are Barrackpore (Kolkata), Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Bihata (Patna). There are objective type question from– English & Reasoning and general awareness from the CBSE syllabus. Duration of exam is 45 min. In this physical exam they have to run 1.6km within 8 minute. INDIAN ARMY
Every year Indian Army recruit 3000 candidates from West Bengal through 4 recruiting office. 2 times rally arranged in a year by a recruiting zone. Kolkata 1 No. Gokhel road recruiting office recruit candidates from the districts- Kolkata, Howrah, N. 24 Paraganas, Medinipur East & West. Baharampur Branch recruiting office recruit candidates from the districts- Bardhoman, Birbhum, Nadia & Murshidabad. Barrackpore branch recruiting office recruit candidates from the districts- N. 24 Paraganas, Hooghly, Purulia, Bankura. Bangdubi (Siliguri) Branch recruiting office recruit candidates from the districts- N. & S. Dinajpur, Malda, Coachbihar, Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling. 2) Soldier Technician–
Educational Qualification – 50% marks in higher-secondary with 45% in each subject with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as compulsory.
Physical Requirement – Age within 17-23.Minimum height of 169 cm (For SC/ST and other reserved candidates 162cm). Must have the ability to grow chest Upto 82cm and without grow 77cm. And weight have to be minimum 50 Kg (For SC/ST and other reserved candidates 48kg).
3) Soldier Technical (Aviation and Ammunition) –
Educational Qualification – 50% marks in higher-secondary with 45% in each subject with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as compulsory.
3 years Diploma or Polytechnic in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Computer Science, Electronics and Instrumentation Technology with 50% marks in Madhyamik or ITI pass.

4) Soldier clerk/ Storekeeper –
Educational Qualification – 60% marks in higher-secondary with 50% in each subject in Science, Arts, and Commerce stream. But you have to get 50% in English and mathematics/ Accountancy/ Book Keeping in Madhyamik and Higher secondary.
Physical Requirement – Age within 17-23.Minimum height of 162 cm. Must have the ability to grow chest Upto 82cm and without grow 77cm. And weight have to be minimum 50 Kg.
You get 15 no bonus if you have ‘O’ level computer pass certificate from DOEK.
For Soldier clerk/ Storekeeper200 marks exam of 1 hour conduct with 1)general knowledge, general science, computer science 100marks 2) English 100marks. Pass mark 40%.
5) Soldier Nursing Assistant and Soldier Nursing Assistant (Veterinary) –
Educational Qualification – 60% marks in higher-secondary with 50% in each subject with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as compulsory.
B.Sc. in Botany, Zoology and Bio-Science also can apply. There HS mark will not effect so much if they have no backlog.
Physical Requirement – Age within 17-23.Minimum height of 169 cm (For SC/ST and other reserved candidates 162cm). Must have the ability to grow chest Upto 82cm and without grow 77cm. And weight have to be minimum 50 Kg (For SC/ST and other reserved candidates 48kg).
For Soldier Nursing Assistant100 marks exam of 1 hour conduct with 1)general knowledge 20marks 2) Biology 30 marks 3)Mathematics 30marks 4)Chemistry 30 marks. Pass mark 40%.
6) Soldier Tradesman (without mess keeper & house keeper) –
Educational Qualification- ITI and Diploma pass
Physical Requirement – Age within 17-23.Minimum height of 169 cm (For SC/ST and other reserved candidates 162cm). Must have the ability to grow chest Upto 81cm and without grow 76cm. And weight have to be minimum 48 Kg.
7) Soldier Tradesman (mess keeper & house keeper) –
Educational Qualification- VIII pass
Physical Requirement – Age within 17-23.Minimum height of 169 cm (For SC/ST and other reserved candidates 162cm). Must have the ability to grow chest Upto 81cm and without grow 76cm. And weight have to be minimum 48 Kg.
The son of army or ex-army will get excess in height by 2cm, in weight by 2kg, in growing of chest by 1cm. the players of district, state or national level will get excess in height by 2cm, weight by 5kg and growing of chest by 3cm.
Son of ex-army, players will get extra 20 mark bonus, 10 marks bonus if you have NCC certificate, 5 marks bonus if you have ‘A’ pass certificate. If you have ‘C’ certificate in NCC, then you don’t have to give written exam in Soldier Tradesman & Soldier general duty. And in all other post you will get 15 bonus marks.
The International players will get extra 20 marks, State and national level players will get extra 15 marks, districts level players will get extra 10 marks, University level players will get extra 5 marks.
You have to enrol your name at first from 5 to 7am on the maintained date. On that day all the exam will conducted by the authority. The 100 marks exam of Physical ability-
1) For Soldier general duty-
1.6km(1 mile) run. 60 marks for 5min 40sec, 48 marks for 5min 41sec to 6 min and fail after 6 min.
And for other post-
1.6km(1 mile) run. 60 marks for 5min 40sec, 48 marks for 5min 41sec to 5min 50sec and fail after 6 min.
2) Beam test(Pull up)- 40 marks for 10 times, 33 marks for 9 times, 27 marks for 8 times, 21 marks for 7 times. 16 marks for 6 times.
CENTRAL RESERVE POLICE FORCE (CRPF) & CENTRAL INDUSTRIAL SECURITY FORCE (CISF)
1) Head Constable (Ministirial)-
Educational Qualification – Higher Secondary pass in any stream with a typing speed of 30 word/min (25 word/min for reserved category)
2) Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer) –
Educational Qualification- Higher Secondary pass in any stream with a typing speed of 40 word/min and shorthand of 80 word/min.
Physical Requirement –
Boys : Minimum height of 167.5 cm (For Gurkha and Asamise 165 cm and for SC/ST and other reserved candidates 162.5 cm). Must have the ability to grow chest Upto 86cm and without grow 81cm (3 cm excess for reserved candidates). Weight have to be adjust with height.
Boys : Minimum height of 157 cm (For Gurkha and Asamise 155 cm and for SC/ST and other reserved candidates 152.5 cm). Weight have to be adjust with height.
For both Eyesight will be 6/6 in right eye and 6/12 in left eye or 6/9 in both eyes. Age will be between 18-25. (Age relaxation for reserved candidates).
Call letter for physical examination will be sent by checking your application and curriculum certificates. This examination mainly conduct at Durgapur, Rachi, Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Muzaffarpur.
After the Physical examination, if you are selected then you have to give a written exam of objective multiple type question of 4 papers- 1)English/Hindi language 2)General intelligence 3) Numerical aptitude 4) Clerical aptitude. 50 marks of each paper. Total 200 marks question with 2 hour time duration. Question will be in English and Hindi. Qualifying mark for general is 40% (SC, ST & OBC 35%). After qualifying you have to give medical check-up. You have to carry all the original certificate, NCC certificate, Computer course certificate at the time of interview.

If qualified then a 100 marks written exam for Assistant Sub-Inspector (Radio mechanic), Head Constable (Radio Operator) and Head Constable (fetter) containing Physics, Chemistry, General awareness and English of higher secondary level. Then 25 marks interview. 10 min Memorandum exam for Head Constable (Radio Operator). At last medical check up.

The written exam for ‘Head Constable’ containing with 1) Simple Arithmetic 2) General Knowledge 3) general English. 100 marks in each paper with 2 hour duration in each paper. Then typing test. Then 50 marks interview and at last medical check-up. The Advertisement release on August in each year.
